Each piece in a set goes on the karatmeter and the scale on its own line, not as one bundle. A 22k bangle and an 18k pendant in the same set are read and weighed separately, and priced separately. You choose which pieces you want to sell and which you want to keep. Nothing about walking in with a full set means you have to sell all of it.

This matters more than it sounds like, because most sets that come in from a family collection are not one uniform purity. A set bought over years often has a chain from one goldsmith, bangles from another, and a pendant added later — different karat, sometimes different colour of gold. If you are in Noida Extension or anywhere else in Greater Noida West, this is the normal shape of what people bring in, and it is also why testing has to happen piece by piece rather than on the set as a whole. Pickups for this also cover Delhi NCR, if you would rather not carry the whole set out yourself.

Is a full set tested as one piece or separately?

Separately, always. Each item — each bangle, each earring, the chain, the pendant — is tested on the karatmeter on its own, then weighed on its own. That is true whether you bring one ring or a full wedding set. The reason is simple: purity is a property of the metal in that specific piece, not of the set as a group. Two bangles that look identical can still test at different karat if they were made at different times or by different karigars.

You can watch each reading happen. If you want the mechanics of how the karatmeter reading itself works, that is covered step by step in how a karatmeter reading is taken.

What if the pieces in my set are different purity?

Then each piece is priced against its own tested purity and its own weight, and the total is simply the sum of those individual figures. A set with one 22k piece and one 18k piece is not averaged out or treated as if it were all one karat. The 22k piece is valued as 22k gold at its weight, and the 18k piece is valued as 18k gold at its weight. If you want to understand what that karat difference actually does to the number, that is laid out in 22k, 18k and 14k: what the difference is worth.

This also means mismatched sets are not a problem to explain away or feel embarrassed about. Family gold collected over decades is almost never uniform, and a buyer working piece by piece has no reason to care.

Can I sell only some pieces and keep the rest?

Yes. Since every piece is tested and priced on its own line, you can pull any piece out before you finalise anything. A common case: someone brings a set meant for a wedding, decides to sell the loose chain and one pair of earrings, and keeps the bangles because they are meant for a daughter. That is handled the same way as selling any other purana sona — the pieces you keep are simply set aside, untested if you prefer, and only the pieces you agree to sell get weighed into the final total.

Nothing is decided until you agree to it. You see each piece's reading, you see each piece's weight, and you choose what goes into the final count before any cash changes hands. If a rate has moved since you last checked it, or you are unsure how the number on a piece gets worked out from the day's rate, that process is explained in why the published rate is not your payout.

What if one piece in the set has stones or is broken?

Stones are weighed out separately and are not part of what gets bought — this shop buys and tests gold only, not the stones set into it. A broken clasp or a single earring from a pair does not stop that piece from being tested; it is read and weighed exactly like an intact piece, on its own line, same as everything else in the set. More on what that specifically looks like is in what broken pieces and single earrings are worth.

What should I bring if I am selling a mixed set?

Bring the pieces themselves, and any ID you would normally carry for a sale. You do not need to sort the set by purity beforehand or separate what you plan to sell from what you plan to keep — that sorting can happen at the counter once you see each piece's reading. A full list of what to carry is in what to bring when you sell gold. If you want to talk through a specific mixed set before you come in, call or WhatsApp 9217742656 and describe what you have.

Questions people ask

Do I have to sell my whole gold set together, or can I sell just one piece? You can sell just one piece. Every piece in a set is tested and weighed separately, so you decide at the counter which ones to sell and which to keep.

If my set has different karat gold, like 22k and 18k mixed, how is that priced? Each piece is priced against its own tested purity and its own weight, then those figures are added together. A 22k piece and an 18k piece in the same set are never averaged into one number.

Can I get a mismatched or inherited gold set valued without selling any of it? Yes, you can ask for each piece to be read on the karatmeter without committing to sell. Call or WhatsApp 9217742656 if you want to check on a specific set before deciding.
